Dr. Ruggieri first learned about chiropractic in college at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Her school wanted to inspire students to choose careers that focus on preventing health issues. Dr. Ruggieri discovered that chiropractic goes beyond just relieving pain – it helps advance overall health by improving the nervous system. People who receive chiropractic care tend to be happier, take less medication, have more energy, experience fewer injuries, and enjoy doing more of what they love. She found something special about helping people thrive in life, not just preventing health problems.
A month before starting chiropractic school at Parker University in Dallas, TX, Dr. Ruggieri faced a severe back injury. Her orthopedist expected a five-month recovery, but with chiropractic care, she healed much faster and moved to Dallas without pain. Though the injury caused severe degenerative disc disease, regular wellness chiropractic care allows her to return to her favorite activities and hobbies.
Dr. Ruggieri started with occasional chiropractic appointments at the student clinic for her back. As she got more comfortable with her school schedule, she began weekly adjustments. She noticed a deeper level of healing and neurological benefits. Dealing with attention span and reading difficulties, she took longer to complete tests and assignments. Weekly adjustments made schoolwork easier, and she gained better control over anxiety. Dr. Ruggieri realized she wanted to specialize in brain-based chiropractic care through her own experience.
